Custom Software Development Services
We design, build and scale custom software for startups and enterprises — websites, web apps, SaaS, mobile, AI, automations and more.
Custom software development services cover the full path from a business problem to a working product: discovery, UX/UI design, architecture, development, testing, launch — and support long after launch. Momentum Squads is a software development company for startups and growing businesses that need serious software without enterprise overhead — and without template shortcuts that collapse at the first real feature request.
We started in 2017 as a small team of engineers who kept running into the same problem: growing companies needed serious software, but the market offered either slow enterprise processes or cheap templates with no future. We chose a third path — small senior squads that move fast without cutting corners. Each squad combines developers, a designer, and a product manager — enough expertise to own a product end-to-end, and small enough to ship working software every week or two.
Since 2017, our squads have shipped software for clients in 8 countries — from the USA and Canada to Poland and Ukraine — and 3 out of 4 of them return with their next project. Clients rate that work 4.9 stars on Clutch. The best introduction is the work itself — browse our case studies with named clients.

Who we build for
Most of our 190+ clients fall into four groups. The problems differ; the approach — a small senior squad that owns the product end-to-end — stays the same.
Startups
You need a first version real users can pay for — before the runway runs out. We scope ruthlessly, build custom from scratch or adapt proven templates when fast launch is the priority, and ship a product you can grow instead of throw away. Start with MVP development.
Growing businesses
The spreadsheets, no-code tools, and version one of your product got you here — and now they are the bottleneck. We replace them with software built around your real process, not the other way around: custom platforms, integrations, and automations that remove manual work instead of adding headcount.
Mid-market companies
You run established operations across teams and systems that don't talk to each other. We connect CRMs, ERPs, payment systems, and internal tools — or build the missing piece from scratch — so data flows without manual re-entry and processes hold up as you scale.
Enterprises
We are not an enterprise outsourcing vendor, and we don't pretend to be. Enterprises come to us for a specific product a compact squad can own end-to-end — the way automotive dealer networks for Hyundai, Škoda, and Suzuki use our chatbot platform for test-drive booking, purchase support, and post-sale service, integrated with the dealers' internal systems: stores, CRM, and service platforms.
What we build
One table, one team model. Every row links to a service page with the details — and every service is backed by shipped, named cases.
| What you need | What we deliver |
|---|---|
| Web platforms & SaaS | E-commerce stores, marketplaces, booking systems, fintech products, dashboards, and portals — custom from scratch or template-based when speed matters, including high-load systems with distributed architecture. |
| MVP development | The smallest version of your product that proves the idea with real users — discovery, UX, core build, auth and payments, deployed and measurable. |
| AI chatbots & assistants | Bots that don't just respond — they solve business tasks: sales, support, internal operations, and lead generation on Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber, Instagram, and the web. |
| Business process automation | Workflows on n8n, Make, and OpenAI — extended with custom code where standard modules end — to eliminate routine manual work. |
| CRM systems | HubSpot, Odoo, or Zoho set up and integrated — or a proprietary CRM built from scratch — connected to telephony, payments, and marketing tools. |
| IoT development | Firmware, sensor networks, drones, smart-home and industrial automation — from device logic to cloud dashboards. |
| UX/UI design | UX flows, interfaces, and complete design systems in Figma — for products we build or products you already have. |
| Quality assurance | Manual and automated testing with Playwright, PyTest, and Postman — websites, mobile apps, chatbots, APIs, and AI tools. |
| Marketing | SEO, PPC, social media, and brand identity — so the product we ship also gets found. |
| Software development engagements | Fixed price, time & materials, dedicated team, or staff augmentation — the commercial wrapper around any build on this page. |
| Dedicated development team | A full squad — developers, designer, product manager — working as your product team for the long run. |
What this looks like shipped: felen, a global content-monetization platform for creators — microservices, real-time WebSockets, a custom fiat + crypto payment aggregator, and 0% fees on charity donations. Or cc-chatbot, a Telegram bot for a premium vaping brand that has generated $5M+ in income through the chat channel, serving 50,000+ customers across 7,000+ products in 59 stores. Different products, same squad model.
Our process: discovery to support
Six stages, no black box. You see progress in the product itself, not in status reports.
1. Discovery
We map your process and goals before writing code — one call and a short brief are enough to start. Discovery ends with a scoped plan, an honest recommendation on custom vs. template, and a concrete estimate under the engagement model you choose.
2. Design
UX flows first, visuals second. We shape page structure, user journeys, and UI components around your business goals — delivered in Figma, as screens or a complete design system.
3. Build
Small increments, shipped continuously. We use AI-accelerated development where it genuinely speeds things up — under senior engineering supervision. Architecture is designed by humans, generated code is reviewed like any other, and everything ships behind tests and monitoring.
4. QA
Our QA engineers test stability, logic, performance, and edge-case behavior — manually and with automated suites in Playwright, PyTest, and Postman — before anything reaches your users.
5. Launch
We deploy to your infrastructure or ours — Docker and Kubernetes, monitoring included.
6. Support
After launch we stay responsible for what we ship: updates, technical maintenance, and functional scaling. That is why most clients come back with a next project.
The full model — engagement options, timelines, and what a week of working with us actually looks like — is on how we work.
Tech stack
We deliberately keep the stack narrow and proven — depth in a few tools beats logos on a slide.
- Backend: Python — Django and FastAPI
- Frontend: React and Next.js
- AI: OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain
- Data and infrastructure: PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes
- Automation: n8n, Make
- Payments: Stripe, PayPal, LiqPay, WayForPay — or custom financial modules
- QA: Playwright, PyTest, Postman
This is the stack behind felen's high-load payment aggregator — a production list, not a wishlist.
Engagement models
Four ways to work with us. Which one fits depends on how well-defined your scope is.
- Fixed price. Scope, budget, and deadline agreed before we build. Best for well-defined projects and MVPs — see MVP development. The trade-off: mid-build changes go through re-estimation.
- Time & materials. You pay for actual work as the product evolves. Best when scope is expected to change — the trade-off is that budget discipline lives in the roadmap, not the contract.
- Dedicated development team. A full squad — frontend and backend developers, a designer, a product manager — working only on your product, month to month. See dedicated development team.
- Staff augmentation. Our engineers join your existing team under your management — capacity without the hiring cycle.
Model-by-model comparison lives on software development and how we work.
Where we work
Our squads have shipped for clients in the USA, Canada, Spain, Australia, Israel, Poland, Austria, and Ukraine. Engineering is rooted in Kyiv, which makes us a natural nearshore partner for EU companies: the same or an adjacent time zone as Warsaw, Vienna, and Madrid, real-time communication through the whole workday — and this site runs natively in English, Ukrainian, and Polish. For North American clients, our afternoon overlaps the East Coast morning, so daily standups happen live, not by recording.
Nearshore, in practice, means communication and delivery habits built over 9+ years and 190+ clients. We work as partners, not contractors: same product goals, direct access to the people doing the work.
Frequently asked questions
How much does custom software development cost?
It depends on scope — and anyone quoting a number before understanding your process is guessing. That is why we start with discovery: we map your process first, then give you a concrete estimate under the engagement model that fits. Fixed price for defined scope, time & materials for evolving products.
How long does it take to build a custom product?
We ship working software from the first sprint, so you see where the build stands at every step instead of waiting on a Gantt chart. First versions ship fastest when scoped as an MVP; full platforms take as long as their scope requires.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
Yes — startups and growing businesses are who this company was built for. We scope for runway: custom from scratch when the product is your differentiator, proven templates when fast launch is the priority.
Do we actually need custom software, or would a template do?
Sometimes a template genuinely is the right answer — and we will say so, because we build both. The line: if your process is standard, adapt a template; if your process is your advantage, build custom. Discovery exists to answer exactly this question before you spend real money.
Do you use AI to write code?
Yes, openly. We are early adopters of AI-accelerated development — and firm believers that it only works under senior engineering supervision. Architecture is designed by humans, generated code is reviewed like any other, and everything ships behind tests and monitoring.
What technologies do you use?
Python (Django, FastAPI) and React/Next.js at the core; OpenAI, Anthropic, and LangChain for AI features; PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, and Kubernetes underneath; n8n for automation. A narrow stack, chosen so every squad has depth in all of it.
Who will actually work on my project?
A squad: typically two frontend/mobile developers, two backend developers, a UI/UX designer, and a product manager. The product manager is your single point of contact — and you always have direct access to the engineers.
Where is your team located?
Engineering is based in Kyiv, working with clients in 8 countries — the USA, Canada, Spain, Australia, Israel, Poland, Austria, and Ukraine. For EU companies we operate as a nearshore team in the same or an adjacent time zone; for North American clients we keep live overlap with East Coast mornings.
What happens after launch?
We stay. Post-launch support covers updates, technical maintenance, and functional scaling — we remain responsible for what we ship.
How do we start?
A short call is enough. We map your process and goals, come back with a scoped recommendation — and you decide with a concrete plan in hand. Details on how we work, or reach us through the contact form on the homepage.
